This is the beautiful “Couple Story” of Kathie and her husband Michael from the Blossom Flower Shop, written by Kathie!

“When I was working at Blossom Flower shops in my early 20’s I met my husband through mutual friends. We were both dating other people and became very good friends over the next year. Finally after some time of obvious mutual attraction, we were both single at the same time.

One night after hanging out with my sister and other friends, he walked me to my car and kissed me goodnight. I raced to my sister’s house, so excited and happy, I had to tell her.

We dated that summer and then he got a job as a captain on a yacht that would be in Florida and the Bahamas for the winter. He asked me to be his first mate and I had to decline because I had a lot of responsibility already at Blossom Flower Shops. We were both very sad about the pending time apart.

He asked me one more time if I wanted to be his first mate and I took it as a sign that I can’t pass this up. So we spent the next 2 years yachting and chartering around Florida, The Bahamas and up and down the east coast from Martha’s Vineyard to Miami. We were the only crew and it was a beautiful first home to start our relationship which has just celebrated 25 wonderful years of marriage and I have always been his first mate.

Oh yeah, and I obviously came back to Blossom when we left that job.”
