National Floral Design Day is a day set aside to recognize the contributions of the professional designers who work in our industry. In honor of the celebration, the team at Blossom Flower Shops would like to introduce you to one of our very talented designers, so that you can see the face behind many of our beautiful floral creations.

We’d like to introduce you to Sandra M. 
Years ago, while walking by Blossom Flower Shops with a friend, Sandra remarked that she would love to work here. “In fact,” she continued, “that is the only place I would work! Their reputation is impeccable and their quality of work is so high.” She came in and applied, and the rest is history. Sandra says she feels lucky to be here – we think we are the lucky ones!

We asked Sandra to share her passion, to tell us her favorite flowers, designs, and why she loves being here. “Spring is my favorite time of year. I love to work with hyacinths & tulips. Tulips are the only flowers that continue to grow after they have being cut from the bulb.”

Sandra continued, “Also when you are working with them, they make a “squeaky” noise. I feel that’s their way of interacting with me. And I love the beauty of the hyacinth opening up and revealing their sweet smell.”

Sandra enjoys designing with big blooms, such as hydrangeas, peonies and gerbera daisies.  When it comes to color, her all-time favorite designs are all white & green. “These designs are elegant and classy, you can never go wrong. With this color scheme, you can create a modern look, or you can go for a more whimsical feel. If color is needed you can always add soft blues, pinks or peaches.”

Sandra shares that the best part of her job is the diversity and beauty of her work . “No day is ever the same, no challenge is ever equal & no design is identical. Every day is a new encounter!”  Sandra loves that with each new day, she is able to create unique pieces she knows will make someone’s day brighter. “The industry is ever changing. There are always new varieties of flowers, new colors and new design styles. Each season brings something fresh to the table, I’m forever learning something new and unique.”
