The Fourth of July is one of those holidays that evokes many special memories - no matter where in the country you grew up, you likely remember family picnics, local parades, sparklers for the kids, and fireworks that lit up the sky. Once again this month, the entire nation will break out the red, white and blue and celebrate the birth of our nation and the freedoms we enjoy. And no matter how you will be celebrating this special day, July 4th flowers can add color and beauty. Use them as a centerpiece for your Yonkers barbecue, give them to the hostess of the party you are attending, or give a tribute bouquet to a brave veteran.
You can trust the floral designers at Blossom Flower Shops to create the patriotic displays and elegant bouquets that will add style and grace to your holiday events. Read More about July 4th Flowers and Celebrations »

There is nothing quite so carefree and joyful as a puppy - but sadly, these lovable animals face some fairly steep odds here in the U.S. when it comes to being brought up in a loving home. National Puppy Day was established to shine a spotlight on the necessity for spaying and neutering, the issues of shelter overcrowding, and the high rates of euthanasia. On March 23rd, organizers encourage all prospective pet owners to go to a local shelter to pick out their new furry friend, or to consider donating if they cannot adopt.
Blossom Flower Shops' talented designers can create any custom floral design you need - from the whimsical to the beautiful! If you want to honor the pet owners in your life, come speak to us. Read More about Recognizing Those Who Adopt Puppies »

There are nearly 36 million people who claim Irish descent here in the United States - and virtually all of them are likely to be able to trace their roots back to their ancestors who arrived in the 1800's, primarily through New York and Boston. And although there is some debate as to which city hosted the very first St. Patrick's Day parade, there is no doubt that our area knows how to celebrate this day! The iconic St. Patrick's Day parade, which marches down Fifth Avenue past St. Patrick's Cathedral, is one of the largest events of its kind in the United States. And Blossom Flower Shops is right in the spirit of the holiday, with beautiful green florals and designs for this popular day. Everyone is Irish on March 17th - so while you are wearing your green, dress up your home or office as well!
Did You Know? St. Patrick was a Catholic missionary to Ireland, but he was not Irish. His given name was Maewyn Succat, and he was born in Great Britain. He came by his love for Ireland in a strange way - after having being kidnapped by pirates as a young man, they held him captive in the green countryside. On February 17th, we will observe National Acts of Kindness Day. Recognized internationally on different dates, the day was the brainchild of a New Zealand native who had the simple idea that he could make the world better place, one nice gesture at a time. The concept caught on immediately and raced around the world like wildfire. And although we have one special day set aside on the calendar, many people have embraced a lifestyle of making people smile. At Blossom Flower Shops, we are privileged to see and participate in acts of kindness all year long - and we look forward to helping you find creative ways to celebrate this wonderful day.
