Get ready, it's the Earth's birthday on April 22.
Well, not exactly a birthday per se, but we here at Blossom Flower Shops feel like it's in the same spirit. Earth Day is an annual global celebration of our planet, an opportunity to raise environmental awareness, a chance to educate ourselves on how to best preserve and support life on Earth, and a moment to appreciate its abundant natural resources and riches. And when we say riches, we mean flowers and plants. What better way to honor the Earth---especially after you've spent the day at a recycling drive, clean-up or environmental fair---than to gather with friends and family and have a gorgeous dinner? So for all intents and purposes, this feels like the biggest birthday ever, and everyone's invited. Read More about A Blooming Tribute To Earth Day »
Blossom Flower Shops is taking a stand against sad desks everywhere by embarking on an initiative we're calling "Desktop Awareness." We're shining a light on the sorry predicament of the many work place surfaces across the country that have come out of this winter (if it's over) looking dismal, disorganized or totally bereft. We're calling upon you and your team to take stock of the state of your work desks and tables, just ahead of Administrative Professionals Day (April 25), and urging you to consider bringing some life to them with new flowers and plants. Blossom Flower Shops has baskets galore, but we're not exactly filling them with Peeps and chocolate bunnies. No, we're packing them with flowers and especially flowering plants, using one of Easter's most emblematic vessels to our own glorious ends.
Baskets always symbolize comfort and plenty, ever since ancient farmers used them to carry the spring's seedlings to church to be blessed. Flowers look lovely when they bloom from baskets. Read More about How We Do Easter Baskets »

Do you love Secret Santa as much as we here at Blossom Flower Shops do? We're hoping so, because this holiday gift swap - part of a family of such games, along with Yankee Swap, White Elephant, even Conspiracy Santa - is a whole bunch of fun. And if you aren't familiar with how it works, allow us to give you a primer. Basically, your group comes together to draw names. Whoever you draw is the person you'll be buying a (usually price-capped) gift for. The fun part? You won't tell them you're the giver. Well, not if you can help it (and you should!) If you're hosting Thanksgiving this year, you're going to need some flowers.
Maybe you expected us to say "turkey, sides and a flat screen with football queued up," but allow us at Blossom Flower Shops to direct your attention elsewhere. Specifically, toward a drop-dead gorgeous centerpiece, which should sit proudly at the heart of your dining table for all to see and enjoy. That's a tall order, we know. The origins of holidays and observances are often very different than you might expect. But in the case of Sweetest Day, its humble beginnings come from one of the very sweetest things you can do - give candy to someone who is having a rough time.
In the early 1900's, a group of candy executives got together and donated approximately 26,000 boxes of chocolates and other sweet treats to widows, orphans, and shut-ins. The publicity stunt was presented as a new yearly event, but cynics noted that it was little more than the companies looking to establish a new holiday which benefited their pocketbooks. Regardless of intentions, the Sweetest Day is still observed over 100 years later, especially in the Midwest and Northeast. However, the modern version entails doing anything nice for someone who may need support and encouragement. Blossom Flowers Shops has the flowers, candy & gift ideas you'll need to lift their spirits. Read More about Sweet Gestures on Sweetest Day »
