Floral Designs for Administrative Professionals Week

We New Yorkers take business very seriously. On any given morning, our roadways and trains are full of people making their way back and forth to a workplace. Many of those employees go throughout most of the year without much recognition, but in April, some of our unsung heroes take center stage! April 26 is National Administrative Professionals Day - and to make sure that no one misses it, the celebration has been extended to include an entire week of honoring these very important people. Who in your organization deserves some accolades? Blossom Flower Shops has the floral designs, green plants, and flowering gardens you'll need. Did You Know? The International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) represents the approximately 4 million admin pros working in the United States currently. Recognizing Those Who Adopt Puppies

There is nothing quite so carefree and joyful as a puppy - but sadly, these lovable animals face some fairly steep odds here in the U.S. when it comes to being brought up in a loving home. National Puppy Day was established to shine a spotlight on the necessity for spaying and neutering, the issues of shelter overcrowding, and the high rates of euthanasia. On March 23rd, organizers encourage all prospective pet owners to go to a local shelter to pick out their new furry friend, or to consider donating if they cannot adopt. Blossom Flower Shops' talented designers can create any custom floral design you need - from the whimsical to the beautiful! If you want to honor the pet owners in your life, come speak to us.   Read More about Recognizing Those Who Adopt Puppies »

Green Florals for St. Patrick’s Day

There are nearly 36 million people who claim Irish descent here in the United States - and virtually all of them are likely to be able to trace their roots back to their ancestors who arrived in the 1800's, primarily through New York and Boston. And although there is some debate as to which city hosted the very first St. Patrick's Day parade, there is no doubt that our area knows how to celebrate this day! The iconic St. Patrick's Day parade, which marches down Fifth Avenue past St. Patrick's Cathedral, is one of the largest events of its kind in the United States. And Blossom Flower Shops is right in the spirit of the holiday, with beautiful green florals and designs for this popular day. Everyone is Irish on March 17th - so while you are wearing your green, dress up your home or office as well! Did You Know? St. Patrick was a Catholic missionary to Ireland, but he was not Irish. His given name was Maewyn Succat, and he was born in Great Britain. He came by his love for Ireland in a strange way - after having being kidnapped by pirates as a young man, they held him captive in the green countryside.  Read More about Green Florals for St. Patrick’s Day »

Mardi Gras Festivities

Mardi Gras dates back thousands of years to pagan celebrations of spring and fertility, When Rome adopted Christianity, the popular local traditions were integrated into the new faith. The wild revelry of Mardi Gras thus became a prelude to Lent, the 40 days of penance between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday.  On the day before Ash Wednesday, revelers would feast on all of the meat, eggs, milk, and cheese they had in their homes to prepare for weeks of fasting, inspiring the name Fat Tuesday. Sharing Random Acts of Kindness

On February 17th, we will observe National Acts of Kindness Day. Recognized internationally on different dates, the day was the brainchild of a New Zealand native who had the simple idea that he could make the world better place, one nice gesture at a time. The concept caught on immediately and raced around the world like wildfire.  And although we have one special day set aside on the calendar, many people have embraced a lifestyle of making people smile. At Blossom Flower Shops, we are privileged to see and participate in acts of kindness all year long - and we look forward to helping you find creative ways to celebrate this wonderful day. No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. - Aesop Read More about Sharing Random Acts of Kindness »

National Wedding Month is February

In February, romance is all around us, thanks largely to the observance of Valentine's Day.
